Shelby A Cox, LAC
My name is Shelby (she/her), I’m a licensed associate counselor. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology at Georgian Court University in 2017. I then went on to complete my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in the treatment of eating disorders at Plymouth State University. I strive to cultivate an inclusive, collaborative and non-judgmental space where you can feel seen, heard and supported.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that every person has the capacity for growth while already being the best version of themselves at any given moment. I integrate trauma-informed techniques with evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, & psychoeducation. For younger kiddos, I incorporate play-therapy techniques to facilitate communication in a language that children are well-versed in.
I am hoping to work with individuals of all ages, from childhood to late adulthood who are looking to improve their quality of life. I have experience treating PTSD in children and adults, chronic suicidality, eating disorders, anxiety, bipolar and depressive disorders, borderline personality disorder, & supporting LGBTQIA+ youth and adults.
My goal as a therapist is to walk alongside you as you navigate this season of your life so that you are well-equipped & confident to handle all that comes after.
