Heal Your Relationship with Food and Your Body

Get compassionate, evidence-based nutrition care designed to help you make peace with food and develop a healthier relationship with your body. As an NTA-certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Allison focuses on identifying the root causes of health challenges rather than simply addressing symptoms. Nutritional therapy uses food, lifestyle habits, and targeted wellness strategies to support the body’s natural ability to heal and function optimally.

Her work emphasizes strengthening the foundational systems that influence health: nutrition, digestion, blood sugar balance, sleep, and stress management. These foundations can play a major role in hormonal shifts, weight changes, fatigue, and mood challenges that many people experience during midlife and periods of chronic stress.

If you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in your relationship with food and body image, you are not alone. We understand …

  • What it’s like to have a never ending list of symptoms that make you feel tired and uninspired
  • How frustrating it is to feel like despite “doing everything right,” you still don’t feel well or can’t lose weight or keep it off.
  • What it’s like feeling lost, unsupported, and unheard along your journey to healing.

Upcoming Nutrition Workshops at MICS

Our focus is on helping you feel better, not controlling your weight.

Nutrition During Menopause

Menopause and perimenopause bring significant hormonal changes that can affect energy levels, weight, mood, sleep, and overall wellbeing. Unfortunately, many women receive little guidance on how nutrition can support their bodies during this transition.

This three-part workshop series will explore:

How hormonal shifts impact metabolism and weight
Nutritional strategies to support hormone balance
Foods and habits that help reduce common symptoms
Sustainable approaches to feeling balanced again
How blood sugar and stress affect hormonal health

Understanding
Cortisol Belly

This workshop will focus on a common concern often referred to as “cortisol belly.” Chronic stress can disrupt hormone balance and lead to increased fat storage around the abdomen. While many people attempt to address this through restrictive diets or intense exercise, the root issue often lies in stress hormones, blood sugar regulation, and lifestyle patterns.

This workshop will help participants understand:

Connections between stress, cortisol, and weight gain
How nutrition supports healthy stress responses
The role of sleep, digestion, and blood sugar balance
Lifestyle strategies to support hormone balance
Realistic tips for sustainable weight management

Supporting Whole-Person Wellness

At MICS, mental health is viewed through a holistic lens. Emotional wellbeing, physical health, and lifestyle habits all interact in complex ways. Nutrition education can be a powerful complement to counseling by helping individuals better understand how their bodies respond to stress, hormones, and daily habits.

Allison’s workshops are designed to be educational, practical, and supportive. Participants will gain insight into their health while learning strategies they can realistically implement in everyday life.

Additional Support for Clients

A Safe, Shame-Free Space

At Monmouth Integrative Counseling Services, we do not promote weight loss or use weight as a measure of health. Instead, we look at your whole health—including your emotional, social, and physical well-being—and help you work toward a life where food and body image no longer control your happiness.
